Around here, we love Halloween. Quite a bit. This year was no exception. We strung lights and decorations up outside. We went to the pumpkin patch and had our carving party. We made Halloween cookies and gobbled them up just as soon as they were decorated. And we eagerly anticipated the big night with our very own count down witch. But, this year we loved it even more because the Pea is here to celebrate with us. (With a tiny exception at the pumpkin patch. The Danger-man was none too thrilled that his little sister stole his spot on Daddy’s shoulders.)

This year I was adamant about choosing a family theme for our costumes. (I know, I know. It is a bit nerdy.) To avoid the fiasco that happened last year, (Eric and I got a little too excited about a Ghostbusters theme and our smallish dictator put his foot down and insisted on being a werewolf…) I decided to let the Danger-man pick the theme.

He really wanted to be Peter Pan. And the Pea “can be Tinkerbell because she would be the most beautiful Tinkerbell” -quote courtesy of the Danger-man. (The sweetest big brother you’ve ever heard of? I think so.) He also wanted Eric to be Captain Hook so they could fight and I could be Wendy lady. Pretty great theme, right? Amazing in my book.

But, can we find a Peter Pan costume any where? No. (Seriously? I really thought that was the classic boys costume of all time.) Tons, of sexy costumes for little girls? Sure. But, no Peter Pan.

So, we made one.

It was actually really easy, the perfect choice for making my first ever costume. I found two green polos on clearance at Target a few sizes bigger than his normal size and some brown fleece pants. I cut up one shirt and Eric made a hat with the other. I couldn’t find a red feather anywhere so made one out of paper. And stuck him in his rain boots.

Okay, he looked a bit like Robin Hood. So what? He was happy!
